Tips for Writing A Memorable Retirement Speech
Your retirement is approaching and you know that the company and colleague will hold a little party for you where you will be recognized for your long career with the company and where you will also be required to give a retirement speech. Here are some tips and suggestion of how to make your retirement speech enjoyable and memorable at the same time. Long speeches are boring and you don't want to be the one delivering one so ensure your speech is short and to the point. Your retirement speech should start with a brief introduction of your first day in the company, your hardest day and your funniest experience (if you have any of those) and then go on to thank all those who were part of your team as well as your bosses for making it possible for you to enjoy working in the company and reach this day. Write Down Your Retirement Speech Even if you think you don't have stage fright, when you will get in front of even couple of people, you may get what is known as ‘stage-fright' and forget everything that you practiced in your head to say but you will hear your voice not recognizing the sounds that came out of it and drag yourself as quickly as possible off the stage. Therefore you should always write your retirement speech down and read it if you must, once you will say couple of sentences your courage will come back and soon you will have the crowd cheering for you. Type your retirement speech in big print so you don't jump the lines or if you lost your thought you can jut throw a glimpse on the paper and soon you will be able to finish your speech with brio. Speak From the Heart Many people will have professional retirement speeches drawn up but the ones that will be enjoyed and remember most are those that you speak from the heart adding a joke and a little remark as you go on. It is important to keep the speech short but it is also important to mention all those that were dear to you along the journey you had in the company, those you offered support and those who offered to teach and believed in your ability. Last but not least don't forget to mention you family without which your daily existence would probably not be the same.
